About us
The LDA, where you can learn ballet from fully qualified Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and ISTD teachers and former English National Ballet dancers. Pupils are given the opportunity to enter RAD examinations and to perform in our shows, giving them the experience of performing infront of an audience with professional lighting, costumes and music.
At the end of each 12 week term, friends and family are invited into the class to watch their childrens' achievements.
Kate Stober (nee Durham-Matthews) A.R.A.D., Dip P.D.T.D., HND., BA (Hons) - Founder/Teacher
Kate trained at Elmhurst Ballet School and the English National Ballet School where she received a scholarship to train with the Vaganova (Kirov) Ballet Academy (St Petersburgh). She danced with the English National Ballet company nationally and internationally performing in a wide variety of productions including: The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, Romeo & Juliet, Coppelia, Alice in Wonderland, X-Ntricities, Les Sylphides, Sleeping Beauty. Having received her PDTD (Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma), Kate ran a dancing school in Regua, Portugal entering children for exams and choreographing shows. On her return to London, she taught in various dancing schools in the UK until setting up The LDA with Alex Foley, also a dancer with the English National Ballet. Kate also had a brief acting career as a child. She is married with three children: Oliver (6 years), Natasha (4 years) and Margaret (3 months).
Megan Faithfull BA(Hons), LRAD, ARAD, RADrts - Teacher
Megan began her training at 2 ½ years old at Dance Foundation, Clacton-on-sea, Essex where she worked her way through the RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern, Tap and Jazz grades. In 2005 Megan was accepted on to the Royal Academy Of Dance full time degree course and in 2008 was awarded a BA(Hons) in Ballet Education and her Licentiate status. Megan also holds her advanced ballet and became an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance. In 2008 Megan began teaching for The London Dance Academy and has worked as a freelance dance teacher in London and all over the UK, working in a number of schools and nurseries under Chelsea Ballet Schools. Megan runs the East Dulwich Dance Academy.
Hui Li Ng - Teaching Assistant
From Penang (Malaysia), Li has been a teaching assistant with the London Dance Academy since April 2011. She received Distinction in her RAD ballet exams as well as in Grade 8 piano. Li loves working with children and passing on her knowledge and enthusiasm of dance.
Yuko - Administrator
Yuko was born into a family who enjoys music, art and dance and took ballet lessons as a child. She studied English Literature at university in Japan and worked in a hotel as a receptionist after graduation. She came to England in 2008 to further study the English language and joined the London Dance Academy in January 2011.
